Calder Valley Shared Transport Limited, trading as POD:
POD was registered as a Community Benefit Society (a type of cooperative set up to benefit the community, not just members) in August 2024. POD is a new car share scheme in the Upper Calder Valley, a semi-rural area in West Yorkshire in the UK. Operating with five hybrid cars based in Hebden Bridge and Todmorden, POD offers a vital alternative to private car ownership.
By reducing car ownership and use, we aim to encourage active travel, as well as reduce pollution and congestion. In the longer term, POD plans to replace their hybrid cars with electric vehicles and extend into e-bike rentals.
We made a conscious decision to work with The Mobility Factory to deliver our project due to its cooperative status and our wish to join other car and bike share clubs across Europe, as well as the UK.
